We stayed at this hotel because we had believed their website. Shortly after arrival we found out (by accident) that they no long did evening meals in the bar, the cook had left and hadn't been replaced. There were curtain hooks missing. Dirty crockery on the hostess tray (and at breakfast). The empty jam packet, sugar packet and cereal packet stayed under the side board in the dining room for the duration of our stay. Our friends asked for their room to be dusted before they stayed in it. I lay in bed and watched the cobwebs blowing in the breeze in the corners before I went to sleep. I did complain to the Tourism board and the quality assured people but never had a satisfactory reply. Never again.

We booked the hotel and then read the reviews! I think for the price the hotel was ok. The decor and furnishings are a bit dated and it could all do with a facelift. However it wasnt as bad as I was led to believe from the reviews. The staff were friendly and the food was good. The car park is small but I dont think anything can be done about that. Its inside the city walls, so within walking distance to most things. We would stay there again, for a cheap weekend break in York we couldnt fault it .
