We stayed for two nights at the York Pavilion hotel, a Friday and a Saturday. I was a little worried after reading the comments on here about noise due to wedding receptions but that turned out to be unfounded. There was indeed a wedding party on the Saturday night but nothing of it could be heard, not in the restaurant, the bar or our room.
There is a large car park which can fill up ( wedding guests I suppose ) but we had no trouble parking as we arrived in the afternoon and did not move the car until we left. As for location, it’s a bit out of the centre ( about a 35-40 minute walk ) but it’s very easy to find. It’s also on a main bus route.
Our room was in the courtyard and a bit dark being right at the back but that was nothing to worry about. The room was big enough and was exactly what we would have expected.
The bar area is very nice and relaxing and just the place for drinks before dinner in the excellent restaurant. We choose to eat in the hotel on both nights because it’s about 2 miles to the city centre and after spending the day in York we were too tired to venture out. I can happily say that the food is first rate. A meal for 2 with a couple of drinks each will come to around ?80 or so. You certainly did not feel rushed whilst eating and the head waiter was very efficient in making sure that everything ran smoothly.
To conclude, the hotel is very good, and we would certainly consider it again if visiting York.
