Wild Boar - Windermere, United Kingdom     

15 April 2008 After having just returned from the Wild Boar for a surprise birthday bash I can honestly say our stay was almost perfect,that is apart from the Lakeland weather which does change every five minutes from sunshine to snow we had it all ! The place was a welcome surprise from its friendly staff to its comfy seating area,s and homely log fires burning in each of its rooms even the loo,s were something else. We stayed in two of the hotels suites in the older part of the building and found them to be very clean and roomy with a lovely roll top bath & shower,tv,etc they even had mints in a jar for those sweet toothed people. Even though our stay coinsided with the kids easter holidays it never felt crowded or busy just very relaxing,there are even country walks in the 72 acres of land at the back of the Hotel which were good on well laid out tracks some of which they were in the process of finishing off. We also tried out the free facilites at its sister hotel the Low wood which is just down the road and found them to be fine the swimming pool is on the small side but ok with a gym steam and sauna room and an outside hot tub which we enjoyed.If we had to have a criticism of the Wild Boar though we would be picking is that the menu was on the small side as there was not a great choice if you were staying longer than a few days. We would definitely consider going back.

I organised a Christmas Party for 25 people, I contacted the hotel direct and got an excellent rate, on arrival the staff were very helpful and friendly. All the rooms were clean, tidy and warm. The food served at the hotel was excellent and the price of drinks were reasonable. The hotel was very festive and we all enjoyed our stay, I will definatley return. Having organised a party at the Low Wood last year I would prefer the Wild Boar its much more intimate and friendly.
