Sherborne Hotel - Sherborne, United Kingdom 

I was visiting family back in April with my Partner, I booked this Hotel as it was the only one that suited my price range in the area. I contacted the hotel direct to make my booking, I had no problems making this and the lady I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and made it very easy. When I arrived at the Hotel I found it to be in a lovely area with plenty of Grounds. Checking In to the room was very Quick and Easy with no hastles. Our room was very nice and everything we needed was there. The only thing was our shower did't work, we contacted reception and a member of staff tried to fix this for us, unfortunatly they had no luck so reception moved us quickly to a new room with no hastle. This made our stay even warmer, we had a great weekend found the food to be lovely even though we only ate Breakfast and had one Bar Snack. We did however find that the Bar had little stock to it and selection. On the Friday Night (the 25th) I found the Duty Manager in the evening and One of the young ladies who was on Reception then in the Resturant very helpful and freindly, I thought that the staff were absoloutly wonderful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area.

As per the other reviews, this place hasn't changed since the 1970's (when I used to stay there). The place has the feel of a cheap motel, OK if you just want a place to sleep (and be fed), but I would not recommend as a base for a special trip or occasion. There were hints of overdue maintenance. For example, when I stayed there the corridor leading to guest rooms on the ground floor had a strong odour that hinted of some mould problem (perhaps underneath the carpet). Food is very basic - service mechanical.
