The Lynton House Hotel - Weston-Super-Mare, United Kingdom 

This week-end was a 'treat' from my sister who had a great stay there 4 years ago (before it changed hands!!) We arrived at this rather tired and run-down looking hotel. A group of lads arrived just before us, the receptionist was young and too inexperienced to deal with rowdy drunken men who were trying to check in. When we eventually got to our room we were disappointed to find that we were to the rear of the hotel on the same wing as the stag party. Where do I start with the description of the room!! It was quite small and grubby, the carpet filthy, kettle did not work, though with the chipped cups I probably would not have used it. There were old stains on the quilt cover, the bathroom was dark and could have done with a good bleaching especially down the loo. All in all the room was dreadful. We asked to change but were told the hotel was full. There was lots of noise in the neighbouring rooms as the lads were getting ready to go out for the evening. The dining room was to the front of the hotel. None of the cutlery matched, the service was very slow and the food was very poor quality and cold. We were kept awake by the noise of returning revellers and slamming doors all night. We did complain about the noise next morning but felt rather brushed off. We only stayed one night instead of 2. I gather the management are not spending money cleaning & tidying-up the hotel up because they hope to turn it into flats. Going on our experience - let's hope they get permission!!!

33 members of our local pensioners club arrived for a weeks holiday expecting the same high quality treatment we have become used to, this being the 14th holiday together. Unfortunately this was not the case, in fact it was a nightmare. The hotel was very dirty and run-down. The evening meal menus' were far worse than would be acceptable in a cheap guest house. If you are thinking of staying at this "hotel" I advice you to ask to look in the kitchen before you do. The room we had was filthy especially the shower room. When we arrived we found a paper bag under the bed with a bun case in, obviously the room had not been hoovered,and wasn't until Monday. The whole place needs condemning and a complete change of management.
