On reading the only other two reviews regarding Rookery Manor I had to add my comments.
I was married here 13th May 2006 and had the most wonderful day possible. We held both the civil ceremony and reception at the venue and the staff were polite, attentive and well presented. The hotel and function areas are clean, tidy and tastefully decorated.
I have since attended other functions held at the venue and stayed in other rooms at the hotel and nothing has changed the overall impression I came away with on my wedding day.
'The Owners Son' also managed my day and did a first class job!

This hotel is very good on the 'showy' side of things - nice gardens which are well kept together and nice purpose built wedding rooms, but the staff really let it down. We got married in October 2005 there, and the staff were awful. The room wasn't ready when we arrived which made us panic, the dj didn't turn up and we had the most awful replacement who didn't know how to do the 'firework' effects or how to work the equipment. The young son was running the wedding who had no control or presence about him. It felt he was just doing it as he was part of the family, not because he was any good at his job.
Breakfast was slow with one person serving. This is really ridiculous as family members had arranged a rough time to meet over breakfast to discuss the wedding day, and one or two people are not enough to serve breakfast.
The staff appear reluctant to be helpful ie I wanted to organise who had which rooms and I wanted to see what the bedrooms were like (to give the better bedrooms to closer family members) but the staff give the impression that they don't have the time to spend doing this for you.
There is no questionnaire after the event for feedback to the venue, which I would have thought would have been a basic customer service learning point for them.
The staff and family just appear 'cocky' and unhelpful, which is a shame as they do have a lovely venue to look at, but unfortunately it is all aesthetics.
