On 6 September 1997 the Park became the focal point for the world's attention, when Diana, Princess of Wales was laid to rest there after her tragically early death. Canons Ashby House (22 km/ 14 miles) - One of the oldest and most romantic of Northamptonshire's great houses and one of the county's hidden gems. It contains Elizabethan wall paintings and sumptuous Jacobean plasterwork and has formal gardens with terraces, a medieval church and parkland.
