On arrival I wished I had taken more notice of the comments on parking, which was not great but was free. The hotel is situated in a perfect position for walking to the town centre and the castle. The staff were attentive and friendly. On first impressions our room was lovely. A nice size, a four poster bed with comfy mattress and pillows and nicely decorated. Unfortunately upkeep was poor. The bathroom door handle was broken so the door could not be opened from the inside... a bit worrying for lone travellers... none of the wardrobe doors opened and the curtains were missing several hooks so did not close properly. Our room had a TV with a built in VCR and videos were available to watch which I thought was a nice touch. The biggest problem for me was the noise, particularly from upstairs. As soon as the other guests started moving around it sounded like they were going to come through the ceiling, but I guess thats what you get with an older building.

Spent 1 night at the hotel (room 11). On the surface the room looked fine but.... Bathroom door could not be opened from the inside (if you're by yourself then you're in trouble!) Had to fight with the wardrobe doors to get them to even partially open. Television wasn't even set up (had to sort out the cables myself). The noise from the upper rooms was terrible (there can't be any insalation between the floor). Breakfast - was okay, although a bit tight on the portions (a single small mushroom!) Would not consider staying there again!
