Me and my girlfriend stayed at The Meadfoot Bay guest house early October for a short break away. We have travelled to Torquay many times and try new places to stay every year as you never know if there is something better out there! I can confirm that we will never have to search again as we have found the perfect place in The Meadfoot Bay. I like many research hotels on tripadvisor.co.uk and have never wrote a review before but felt that I needed to let everyone know that this place is really special and to ignore any negative reviews on here. The hotel is run by a family of three Chris, Caroline & Gary Waters who seem to work all hours of the day to make you as comfortable as possible. We were checked in by Gary who gave us a quick tour of the hotel to explain where to find the breakfast room and also how to get in and out. We stayed in room 12 on the middle floor and absolutely loved our room. It is nicely decorated and a very light room. Our bathroom was very nice also and spotlessly clean, we requested a shower and were very happy with the pressure of the water from the shower. We got to know the family very well as we spent a lot of time around the hotel either in the luxury lounges and also the bar. They are such nice people and did everything they could for us. We have stayed in many Torquay hotels and have never received such good service. Another bonus of this guest house that I have not seen mentioned in the other reviews is on the location. The Meadfoot Bay is in the perfect position, it is about a 10 minute walk into town and about 30 seconds away from the stunning Meadfoot Beach. Not many people know about the Meadfoot area as many think that Torquay ends at the harbour but if you can get a booking at The Meadfoot Bay you will not regret it. A bit of advice when booking your break - By booking directly you actually save money because you get bed & breakfast and you can quote their online offers which they only take over the phone anyway. We stayed for 3 days and got our third night half price as we took advantage of the Weekend Saver offer that was on at that time. One thing to be careful of is make sure you do not book through any of the online booking agents, these include companies such as Booking.com, centralr.com and laterooms who all advertise this hotel, as they only offer room only, so you get a much better deal if you go direct The hotels website is www.meadfoot.com. As stated above we had a lovely time at The Meadfoot Bay and have booked already for next year, going to stay in The St Andrews Suite as we got a sneak peak before we left!

I stayed here with my family for 4 nights for my brothers wedding weekend. I wanted it to be special, and he had reccomended it. It is a little more 'special' than the usual small B&B/Hotel. Alot of effort and style has gone into the place. The sitting rooms are very elegant and a beautiful place to sit when you have a spare moment (after/before breakfast). If you ask when booking about the rooms that have easy access to the terraced area/balconies. Again, time and effort on designing a lovely area to sit and soak up the sun and calm of the area. It's a few mins walk to the nearest and nicest quiet un-spoilt beach where there is a cute cafe to get a drink or snack (we even had breakfast there 3 out of 4 mornings to save money - and it was good value and fresh while you waited). being out of season it was quiet, but I'm sure at peak it is still a great place to stay. The owners are friendly and make you really feel welcome. It might be a few extra pounds but worth it! the ONLY downfall was our room was a little small for the 2 of us, but for the time we were in it it didnt really bother us.
