Stayed in the Oak for 2 nights ( Friday and Saturday) , we upgraded to a seaview room, which was fantastic 3 windows all looking over the harbour. The bar attached wasgood ( not the noisy one) as was the Atlantis restaurant, The food and service was superb. The reason we have given the review a low score is that the 3 rooms overlooking th harbour is beautiful, however they tend to let in a lot of noise from the bar next door, the bar closes at 3am on a saturday. I think the thud of the base beat of the music stopped at just after 2.30am, Then across the road from the hotel is the taxi rank, so this generated noise from all areas with large groups at all hours waiting to get home. The hotel would be great if the rooms where doubleglazed and that there was no noisy bar next door.

Stayed here for one night on a weekend out of London. This was much better than we were expecting for an English seaside hotel/inn and the room was very pleasant. The hotel has clearly been refurbished recently and to their credit they have done a proper job. We chose a non-seaview executive suite - and being English I had already guessed the only thing making this a suite would be the addition of a sofa - and I was correct. However the furnishings were of a good standard although the bed was perhaps a little on the small side The bathroom was also finished to a high standard. The only real critism of the hotel was that the bar stopped serving food at 8pm - because the chef wanted to clear up apparently - although reading between the lines, the bar is very popular as a Saturday night drinking spot for the locals, and people eating probably get in the way of a busy bar! The included breakfast was of a good standard and in a pleasant cafe with a harbour view.
