I have recently stayed at this hotel twice in respect of work & what a gem- It's a small hotel with a homely feel. The breakfasts are sumptious with fresh flowers/real honey comb/smoked salmon, fresh gammon ham /fresh fruit salad on offer as well as the usual cooked offerings. it's full of books/ log fire and the staff are really friendly and helpful. They have the personal touch without losing the idea they are a business. Highly recommended

Lets put it into perspective. The owner even sent us a postcard after our visit to say thanks ! We wanted a get away close to London and Tripadvisor has served me well in the past. Once again it cam up trumps. Ok, now I feel I am qualified to comment, I was involved with Marriott / Ritz in Mayfair London, so I know service and the value of little things. No this is not a 5* hotel, but the art work, the late supper of cheese, crackers, cakes etc left in the dining room, the open fire, the old record collection, the fantastic breakfast, the amazing ham and smoked salmon, the honesty bar, the friendly staff all add up to an amazing stay. It was so relaxed and the family feeling was great. Nothing is perfect and this is more a B&B than what you would expect of a hotel, but don’t get me wrong an amazing B&B. I travel a lot with work, stay in 5 - 7 star hotels and I am often disappointed. My experience on this occasion with this hotel / B & B was excellent. I hope you try it and feel the same way. I have already set up other friends to go explore this place. Maybe I got lucky ! but I will go back if I can.
