The Hotel benefits from a huge carpark and is a 10 minute walk from the town centre. Staff were generally good in particular friendly bar staff. One waitress on at Breakfast was excellent, the other was dire and uninterested. The Restaurant and Bar area decorated in a style that suits the hotel but some furniture looks a little dated. The communal corridors though are quite dingey.
Our bedroom was ok, bed was comfy enough. Tea & Coffee facilities as you would expect and a decent enough TV. The bathroom was my main complaint. Black mould on the silicone sealant that has obviously been used to shore up a previous leak. Bad lighting and extractor fan not working. Shower temperature was difficult to control and the shower head itself kept falling from the wall. Ended up having to shower one handed!
Didn't try evening meal but breakfast was boring. Full english tasted bland other than the bacon which was good.

Some of the reviews here are correct, The Station Hotel is dated and is crying out for some money to be spent on it, but saying that i found it had a touch of the old world charm about it, maybe because some of the all time greats have stayed there such as Bing Crosby and the screen favourites Laurel & Hardy.
I have spent two nights there on seperate occasions and each time found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and offer the obligatory coffee and tea making facilities along with a T.V (where would we be without that)
The Hotel has plenty of on site parking and is central to the town, railway station and is practically on the doorstep of Dudley castle and the Zoo for a good day out, do your history on the castle first to get the most out of it. The Zoo was looking a little tired when i was there and like the hotel requires a little updating and money spending on it but its worth a visit.
The price I would say is fair and reasonable, you could imagine that once this would have been a grand hotel and with some money spent on it, could be again.
