I have just completed a 3 day stay at the Holiday Inn Sheffield and find it a nice, friendly, quiet hotel. Whilst the decor is a little dated in places, it is in keeping generally with the old, grade 2 listed building. The staff are very helpful and welcoming and the food is good in both the bar and restaurant, although the bar menu, whilst limited, is better value for money. I last stayed in this hotel in 2005 and little seems to have changed in that time, but thats not a bad thing. I am due to be in Sheffield on business again shortly and have made arrangements to stay at the Holiday Inn once more.

stayed here one night in june 2 adults and three teenagers thought we were getting 2 rooms each with two double beds in fact got one with two doubles and other had double and sofa bed to be fair we did not complain because couldnt face hassle of moving.students were having an end of term ball.the nois ewhen they were leaving disturbed my wife for an hour. i se efrom previous reviews this is a problem.in the lift there is a notice asking people to be quiet.though this an old hotel double glazing would probably be helpful.according to the website the room has not been upgraded since 1998.though the bathrooms are still in good nick the bedrooms look a bit tired.the restaurant does not offer a table de hopte menu and the a la carte is expensive dinne rfor 5 basically two couses with 2 starters and mostly soft drinks and one glas sof wine cost 127 pounds. this is basically a pity because the building is full of character and is very historic.with room redecoration and double glazing it would justify the cost.at present however it is not brilliant value for money.because i love the basic building however i would stay there again
