My husband and I stayed here for the Around the Island race this past June and we loved it. I think it is the nicest place to stay on the Isle of Wight. It was a little bit of a trek from where the race was happening, but we thought it was well worth it. It was beautifully decorated, had wonderful views of the sea as well as nicely appointed bathrooms and ammenities. I really wanted to try the restaurant, but we couldn't as we had obligations with the race. But when we return next year, we will definitely stay here again!

Have just spent 3 nights at the Hambrough. I agree with the previous reviewer on many points. Good points are the great room if you get the suite with balcony. The restaurant appears to take priority over the hotel in the establishment and is very good ( if not a slight throw back to 1980s nouveau cuisine. You have to like your foams!). The hotel is small and is actually unmanned at times and you feel you are staying in really a boutique guesthouse. I agree with the attention to detail comments on previous reviews. The room servicing required reminders regarding blocked showers and toiliteries etc and they could benefit form an in room guide to welcome you to the services of the hotel and their sister restaurant , the pond cafe (which incidentally is better than the in house restaurant). I hadn't appreciated the lack of parking until arrival. There is a laid back welcoming approach to guests but this can almost cross over to guest inattention. I am really nit picking here as it is a very unique establishment for Ventnor, though it is very pricey. Overall I think the hotel is good and would become excellent if the minute detail this place requires and deserves was fully observed.
