I was working in Coventry for two days and after reading reviews on TA, I booked a room with a King Bed on the Days Inn web site.
When I checked in, the rates I had booked at were different to what the hotel wanted to charge me but I was assured this would be sorted and not cause me any problems on the morning of my departure.
The room I was given had two single beds bolted together each with a single mattress. As this was not what I had booked, I went to reception to ask to change rooms and then had an interesting conversation with the staff and manageress about what exactly a King Bed specification should consist of. I won, sort of, and I was moved to a Work Zone room with a double bed.
I didn't have a breakfast. Apparently it's just a continental one though this really isn't made very clear on the web site.
As other reviewers have mentioned, close by there are plenty of restaurants and entertainment centres.
I ate at KFC and the Chinese buffet AYCE which was very good value. They offer a discount to Days Inn residents on certain days.
On check out I had to point out that they were again trying to overcharge me. It would appear that there had been a breakdown in communications not only between the head office booking system and the hotel, but also between the various members of staff that I dealt with.
Apart from those minor quibbles I would reccomend the hotel. There is plenty to do in the area and it is close to the motorway network. Access is easy and there is plenty of free parking. It is ideal as a base for exploring this part of the Midlands. The hotel was clean and still had that new look about it.

My daughter booked this hotel for us as we were going to Drayton Manor and felt it was too far with two small children to travel from Wales and back in one day.
My daughter, husband, two small children, my husband and myself stayed there. W ehad a small hiccup when booking in as they had lost the booking, but fortunately after 5 minutes everything was sorted out. My daughter had booked a family room and what a surprise! It was two rooms with a connecting door, much better than a lot of other hotels family rooms. The rooms were large and clean, comfortable beds and a lovely shower. They were also warm, which was a good thing as it snowed overnight whilst we were there.
The staff were very helpful, breakfast was a great disappointment. Very little choice, coffee machine was not working properly.
The hotel is very well positioned if you want lots to do without having to drive.
The hotel is opposite a Chinese restaurant which advertises a buffet which we thought we would try. What a mistake! It advertises children prices, provides high chairs but they do not want children there in my opinion. We tried to have a meal there but as soon as we walked in, we were told they were fully booked all evening although the restaurant was half empty! We walked to Frankie and Bennys and what a difference, the children were welcomed with open arms. Whilst we were wating for a table my husband phoned the Chinese to make a booking and was able to do so, although we were told 5 minutes previously that they were fully booked all night.
