We have just returned from a weekend at the Webbington hotel; and Spa. The new leisure facilities are fantastic more than you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable dinner in the restaurant was good value also.

We stayed here when attending a Wedding. I had checked out the reviews on both pages, as there are two for this hotel on Trip advisor. I was concerned by them but it was convienient for us .. and hoped they were wrong. That was a mistake! I tried to book through laterooms as they had a rate at ?60. They called the hotel and were unable to secure the room stating it was fully booked due to a wedding. I called the hotel direct was told they had vacancies for a special rate as we were wedding guests for ?70. A special extra rate! I smelt a rat but went ahead again for convienience. When driving towards the hotel I was immediately struck by the terrible sign on the front of the building as I headed towards it from Loxton. Okay it made it stick out but it made it look like a cheap tacky hotel. We were greated warmly and given all the information that we needed. The public rooms were not bad and it certainly had some character. The large terrace overlooked the the countryside and M5. The pool and gym looked good although due to the wedding did not have time to use these facilities. It's a shame as at least I would have got something for the money we paid! On checking out our room, number 1, I was shocked it was tiny, had stained bed spread, damaged walls and a view of a flat roof and vents. The wardrobe was tiny and covered by a floral curtain. There was also a stale smell and plastic drinking glasses, where was the glass. This was not what I was expecting for a ?70 room. I needed to iron my clothes, I requested an Iron and ironing board. When this arrived the iron was obviously broken, steam button missing and it was difficult to see the temperature dial as the figures had worn off. I requested a different Iron from reception and was advised that they only had two and the other one was being used. This was suposed to be a 3 star hotel. Although the facilities were there in the room, TV, tea and coffee, ensuite and the hotel restuarant this should not be 3 star but a mediocre 2. at most. I did complete a comments card but was concerned about handing it in when I left as I heard the receptionist challennging those that were complaining, I suspected it would disapear and I did not want to spoil the memory of a good wedding by ending on a complaint. Instead I will be sending it to them. We travel extensively and have stayed in numerous hotels over the last 8 months in the UK europe and America and this was without doubt the poorest room. The wedding was great and because of that I feel a little uncomfortable about making this review as I feel somewhat disrespectful. However i want to clearly say that if you are attending a wedding here and want accomodation don't be tempted to book a room and hope it's okay. Stay elsewhere and book a taxi! One positive note - breakfast was good the following morning, hot fresh and tasty.
