Dragon House Hotel - Minehead, United Kingdom 

We found the Dragon almost by accident - what a little gem this is in the heart of West Somerset. We spent some time chatting to the manager - he took over the management of the Dragon 12 months and has spent a lot of time on improvments. The rooms are charming - really oldy worldy - furnished in character with the building - fresh and clean. The staff were all very pleasant - nothing was too much trouble. Lovely quiet little retreat and yes it does sit on the main road but we didn't find that a problem at all. The Dragon pays a lot of attention to detail - which makes you feel pampered in a way that some of the higher star rated hotels could learn from. Of course, as many others have already said where the Dragon is truely outstanding is the quality of their food (and the service ) - but the food is worth the money all by itself. Great food, great service, very friendly - a standard that is a tribute to the West Somerset hotel sector. Thank you Dragon House for your hard work - I wish you nothing but success - a bench mark for others to achieve.

Really enjoyed our 1 night stay at the Dragon House Hotel, we stayed there before in 2004 and it was good then, but it was better on this occasion as they have refurbished the place. We had a double room in the attic I think, very clean and tidy, with TV, tea set, comfy bed. The hotel is on a main road and it can be a little noisy but as our windows were closed it didnt bother us that much. Our room was at the side anyway not overlooking the main road. We ate evening meal in the bar, meal was very nice albeit a bit pricey. Our breakfast was really nice, Where did they get their lovely sausages from? The staff seemed to have changed since 2004, and were friendly, we had to borrow a hairdryer from reception which they had no problem with. At ?80 for two people for 1 night B&B, this was very good. Will go there again.
