We stayed for a week in September having found it via the local tourist information website. The hotel was an excellent find and our stay was very enjoyable. The hotel is situated in a quiet but hilly area of Paignton over looking the bay and is ideal if you are looking for a peaceful location. It is however just a short walk and pleasant walk through a park from beach at Goodrington Sands where you can find everything you expect from a seaside beach and also a large water park. By the beach there is a Brewers Fayre family pub / restaurant which is good if you are not staying half board in hotel. A slightly longer walk takes you into the main town centre and harbour area. The hotel is family run (a brother, his sister, her Mexican husband and their children) all of whom were very friendly and most helpful The husband does the cooking so there is a Mexican twist to the breakfast menu with a spicy egg and tortilla dish along side the usual full English breakfasts. The breakfasts (both English and Mexican) were excellent. The main bar and restaurant area has an outside balcony where if the weather is good you can sit and admire the views and large picture windows for when it isn’t. We were initially in one of the family rooms (room 5). This was a lovely spacious room with both a double and single bed, a seating area and sufficient room for a travel cot. The bay windows had good sea views across the bay to Brixham. We enjoyed the stay so much we decided to extend for an extra night but had to be moved to another room. This room (31) was smaller but was still pleasantly furnished and large enough for both single and double bed. The only main criticism of this room was it had an old fashioned shower and the water pressure was very poor although we were told it was soon going to be renovated and a power shower install there had been in the previous room. Both rooms were clean and well maintained. Difficult to find any major criticisms (expect the shower mentioned earlier) but visitors should be aware that the main car park is very tight and could be difficult to negotiate at times (although we were lucky during our stay that it was empty most of the time). There is however another overspill car park up the hill which is larger. The hotel lift also only really serves the rooms in the newer extension and rooms in the older main part of the hotel are accessed via stairs.
