We stayed as a party of 4 in two rooms, they were both dismal! We got to the hotel and were checked in with the least hospitality and customer service possible, we were given poor directions to our rooms but fortunately it is just 3 long dark corridors so ended up wandering until we found them. The door in our room did not lock but as we were in a small group we just let that slide. Had a shower before going out for the evening, it just drips water on your head. A plus point was the bathroom was very bright. The bedrooms were dark, our room was missing a side light, and as the room was only lit with a total of 3 then the 3rd one missing was poor. The view is terrible, looking out onto the docks and a main road. As shetland is so beautiful and remote you would think it would be easy to find a view! In the morning the breakfast was awful, the continental breakfasts obviously are served up morning after morning and just covered up not fresh. the cheese and meat were both stale. the cooked breakfast was very poor with some items cold & some practically burnt. Toast arrived stone cold. Decor is dark and very very dated and in poor repair, this whole building should be knocked down and something more fitting put in it's place. It would be cheaper and easier than trying to get it done up to a decent state of repair. I really would say stay anywhere else, even if it's a B&B - you'll get a nicer experience.

One member of staff smiled the rest are cold and dour, the place is in time warp, 40 years out of date, the food is awful, there is no atmosphere and is way over priced - kept alive by the oil industry, avoid at all costs
