A sense of forboding strikes you when you near this hard to find hotel in a housing estate back street. The accomodation for this run down hotel is located in a shabby annexe. Don't be fooled by the 'ladies' parking spot and key card entry system - anybody and everybody can enter the building through an unlocked fire door.
The reception, bar and dining room are in the old building. Threadbare, grease stained chairs do not entice you to linger in the bar. Forget wi-fi - internet access is available in reception only, ?1.50 for 10 minutes.
The rooms are basic, uncomfortable beds, mine was reasonably clean but badly in need of refurbishment. A notice on the bathroom door warns of taking a shower with the door open. Steam sets of the fire alarm. As demonstrated at 10pm and again at 7am in the morning. The bell was left to ring for over 20 minutes. Guests were in the corridors not knowing what was going on and no attempts were made by staff to implement the fire drill or advise what was happening.
Unfortunately my company had paid in advance for my room. However staff did not put up any resistance when I declined to pay my bar bill on check out. They must be resigned to this.
Cheap but definitely not cheerful. This is a horrible place to stay.

when arrived at the hotel, it seemed to look ok apart from its location, within a estate. we went into the reception and got our room keys. when we arrived at our room, corridoor after corridoor my boyfriend had to start taking his inhalor as it was musky and clammy (first time in 2 years he has had to use it!), however we got over the musk after leaving the window open for a few hours.
later on that day we came back to the hotel for a meal, had a beef roast dinner, the meat was almost still moo-ing it was that under cooked. the bar was also dissapointing it was far to expensive, 2 double vodka and coke ?12.60. later that night we arrived back at the hotel room and got into bed, the sheets had holes in it and the bed was hard as rock. the plaster by the bed looked damp and wallpaper looked very dated and in need of refirbushment, the bathroom was ok quite clean however the water in the shower was very cold. we also noticed that you need a key to enter the block of which your room is in to make it secure, but a fire door in our building had been wedged open so anybody could freely walk in without a card key.
after getting to sleep and having a very uncomfortable night, and waking a few times as we thought somebody was outside our window, it was that unsafe, we where woken at 8.00 to be told our car had been broken into and everythin had been robbed, JOY! after having enough we packed our stuff and left the hotel, we will certainly not be going back there! i would not recomend this hotel to my worst enemy.
