Surtees Hotel is located only a stones throw from High Street shopping and Eldon Square, Europe's first ever city centre shopping mall. A short distance from local musuems & art galleries & within easy reach of the universities. Whilst staying with us you may wish to take a stroll along the Quayside a few minutes walk from the hotel. The Quayside is one of Newcastle's most picturesque areas, especially at night. Home to the famous Tyne Bridge and the more recent Millenium Eye Bridge. The Quayside is home to The Sage and The Baltic and boasts an array off tourist attractions, stylish bars, restaurants and nightclubs to suit a variety of tastes. Approx. a 10 minute walk and you can experience the leisure complex 'The Gate' which offers a cinema, casino and more bars and restaurants. On arrival at The Surtees you would be forgiven for turning around in the car park and leaving again, this hotel seriously lacks kerb appeal, however once you get in it does improve immensly, friendly receptionist with clear directions to rooms, breakfast times etc. Rooms are pretty standard if a little on the tired side but fab showers. This hotel is ideal for those on a night out in the city excellent location, good full breakfast in the morning and a lovely night porter who happily served us drinks way into the small hours.
If your looking for something special in a hotel then this is not it but if your only after a place to sleep for a night or two its ideal.
