Incredibly noisy - so bad we couldn't sleep and we spent two hours every evening trying to get our toddler to sleep because of all the noise from the street/ restaurant/ bar. There was also music from one of the bars coming through the wall.
When we booked I asked for a quiet room, and they knew we were bringing a small child, so it was unfortunate that we got a room overlooking the road (although it was on the top floor, but this sadly didn't help).
Other than that (!) it was OK -- the bed was nice and comfortable and the decor was fine. There was good storage and it was a large, bright room.
The breakfast wasn't very impressive - cheap-tasting sausage, one of things (one bit of bacon, one egg, four mushrooms etc). They brought us nice coffee when we asked specially, though, and the pastries were fine.
I think if you're staying there for the nightlife it'd be fine. If you're staying there hoping for some sleep it's terrible.

I booked this hotel when visiting Newcastle for the first time to go to a Poker tournament. The hotel is in the Jesmond area which is a little out from the centre but very popular with partygoers. The hotel has one of the most popular bars around and although quite noisy, as there is an outside area too, once the windows are closed the noise is not intrusive.
The staff and charming and could not be more helpful. The housekeeping is very good and breakfast, which is run by the Italian Restaurant in the hotel, is excellent. Everything from the full fry up to cold meats, cheeses, croissants, pastries, fruit, yogurts, etc etc. Good coffee too.
We had a lovely room which was a junior suite - the only BUT is that the lift for the hotel backs onto the room which rather wines and groans when used. The number of the room is 201. As people do tend to go to bed early in the morning rather than at night, after all Newcastle is the party town of the north, it is better to avoid this room if you are a light sleeper.
Altogether a really nice and welcoming hotel.
