Location

Llangollen town, with its canal boats, steam railway, antique and craft shops, is just a short, scenic walk away from the Hotel, along the banks of the River Dee.
The town also plays host to many Festivals, including Llangollen's International Music Eisteddfod, held in July each year, and the Jazz Festival held in May
Local fishing rights on the banks of the River Dee offer some of the best trout and salmon fishing in the North West. The Wild Pheasant Hotel is pleased to offer fishing day packages to include fishing rights.

Country Walking: Ancient trackways explore woodlands, rivers and meadows leading to the medieval remains of Valle Crucis Abbey or the hill-top ruins of Castell Dinas Brân.

Coarse Fishing: At four miles long, Bala Lake is the largest natural stillwater in Wales. It holds plenty of roach, perch, pike and gudgeon and is a popular training venue of the Welsh national match team. The lower Dee near Chester is a good match-fishing venue, with good stocks of dace, chub and bream. There are pike throughout the river system and barbel around Bangor on Dee. The Gweryd Lakes comprises two lakes: the 12-acre Llyn Gweryd, a spring-fed natural lake stocked with ghost carp, mirror carp, common carp up to 20lb (average around 9lb), tench and bream as well as crucian carp, roach, rudd and perch; and the smaller Llyn Ewan, which is a prolific 'small fish' water with the largest fish approaching 5lb. It is ideal for those new to the sport, as well as for youngsters and competition anglers.
Game Fishing: The many and varied rivers of North Wales offer spectacular scenery and tranquillity. Here you can fish for wild brown trout, grayling, salmon and sea trout in surroundings of great beauty. With so much else to see and do in the area, this is an ideal venue for combining fishing with a family holiday.

Guided Walks: Llangollen Guided Tour – £2.50: 1¼ hours starting at 14:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays, run by Llangollen Tourist Information Centre (01978 861760). 1-day Guided Walk – £6.50 to include light lunch, specially prepared map and information leaflet: Whole-day walks of 7–8 miles moderate walking, starting at 10:00 from Llangollen Town centre, most weekends between Easter and the end of October, led by a local guide (01978 861760).
Horse Riding: Llandrillo Riding Centre, Corwen, is a fully approved riding centre in the heart of stunning Welsh countryside, just half-an-hour from Llangollen. Enjoy a hack out on one of the centre's well-behaved horses or ponies. Or ride the exciting cross-country or show jumping courses. All standards of riders catered for, from age 4 upwards. Lessons in the ménage, small groups or private lessons. School/youth groups welcomed. Personal attention at all times. Hacks, lessons, Fun Days, Shows, Picnic Rides. Inspection welcomed. Golf: Enjoy a game of golf on what is said to be "one of the best inland golf courses in Wales". The Vale of Llangollen Golf Club was established in 1908 and is set in the picturesque Dee Valley surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in this part of Denbighshire. The course offers many challenges to the golfer in particular the 1st hole with the hazard of the pool, and the 9th where the River Dee runs alongside. Vale of Llangollen Golf Club welcomes visitors and is open all year round. Situated approximately 2 miles east of Llangollen on the A5 it has excellent connections to Merseyside, Cheshire, Shropshire and the rest of Wales.
