Dining

The Art Café is situated inside the “Cour des Capucins”, just next to one of our most famous theatres. Not only the name but also the interior, speak to us in an obvious theatrical language.

The decoration, the whole of the furniture and all the paintings are from the theatre circle. The coverings of the clubs and chairs were once the old curtains of the Grand Thétre. The costumes hanging in the annexe, have been used for quite long time, as fancy costumes by all our well known actors, etc. The Art Café still has a small stage, permanently present. Take a look inside this high place of the cultural life and let yourself go under the spell of its ‘retro' charm.

Le Friquet's: Something new to discover soon in Luxembourg City.

I booked this hotel before the last two postings had been made. I nearly cancelled our booking on the basis of these comments, but laziness got the better of me! I do understand the previous remarks about the noise levels at night but, as a very light sleeper myself, I didn't find the music from the bar so very invasive. I guess we were fortunate in being given a suite (#12) at the side/back of the building, and I daresay you are worse off at the front, but I've certainly encountered much noisier city centre hotels. Incidentally, I don’t think the bar is pumping out music every evening… it was certainly quiet on Sunday night. It really depends on whether you are prepared to trade-off the position (slap bang in the middle of the old city) with the potential for some noise in the wee small hours. My experience makes me think that anyone who sleeps ‘normally’ will actually be quite okay. You certainly don’t seem to get the traffic noise which often pervades city centre locations. The styling of this hotel is superb, everything was spotlessly clean, the staff were very helpful, and you are perfectly positioned for sight-seeing, eating out etc. I probably wouldn’t have paid the full price (we got 50% off), but does anyone ever actually pay the rack rate..!?

We had such high hopes when we arrived. Cute little place, very unique. Our room was charming and had a little sitting room with a complementary laptop for our use and nice views It is right near all the fun stuff but it is also right across the street from a young nightclub with rowdy patrons and incredibly loud music. Try to sleep while horns are honking, 20 something year old patrons are screamming and you can feel and hear the virbrating music until 3:30 am! Do not stay during the weekend , room #10, which is on the street side of the hotel. We paid full price. The only offer was to change hotels at 2 :30am. The desk clerk readily admitted that the noise has been a problem . The club is supposed to close at 1 am.
