5The stay at Castlefield was very enjoyable. It started with a logistic nightmare for us: I ended up arriving in Manchester in the evening, but my wife was there in the morning, and the hotel was booked in my name; however, a call to the hotel was enough for her to be checked in, and the room was ready two hours before scheduled check-in. Staff very friendly, spacious and clean room. The location is very nice in the canal area, and not too far from downtown (and a Metrolink station nearby). The breakfast was okay (given the general idea they have of breakfast in England...); we didn't use the bar or the Y Club, but it seems like a nice offer as well. There are also a couple of pubs and several restaurants just down Liverpool Road, and a few more around the canals.
The downsides are very few. It was slightly noisy in the room because of the traffic, but not too much. The toilet didn't always flush at the first attempt, but those are wrinkles. Probably the only biggish downside is lack of wireless Internet in the room, but there is a computer downstairs for those who need a quick fix. Overall, a very nice experience, good value for the money, would definitely stay again.
