Okay, the walls are pretty thin and it looks a bit run down and the lift is tiny but for that price its a perfectly fine place to spend a night or two. In saying that, the bed we had was actually very comfortable, the bathroom and bedroom were both clean and we had a fresh supply of towels and toiletries the next morning so really, we had no complaints. With a bit of work it could be a very good hotel.

initially going to try 5 nights as I'm working in Manchester - tried to sleep - but the condition of the room is disgusting, suspicious stains and patches on the bed sheets have really freaked me out... Bathroom seems cleanish... Very poor sound proofing - can hear the occupants in the next room doing their business on the toilet which is something I do not want nor expect to hear. I'm checking out now after not even a single full night... this is simply not good enough. Not a bad place though if you are totally drunk and couldnt care where you are staying... Seems cheap at ?40 a night for a double room - but the bed is pathetically small for me (5'10). My advice - spend an extra 20 quid or so and book in to a premier inn or something

Just the other side of the motorway from Eccles (with its tram terminus), this is usually the cheapest hotel in Manchester (I once stayed at the hotel at Old Trafford cricket ground with breakfast for just under 30 quid). I've stayed at the Monton serveral times, as it was cheap, but have had no real problems. Music for parties/theme nights can be loud, as can the rooftop aircon units outside some rooms. Staff have been friendly. The indian up the road is ok (turn right out hotel, few hundred yards up on the same side. There are little brown roadsigns from the motorway junction if you keep an eye out. Plenty of parking behind the hotel. The in and out entrances look steep but aren't that bad to drive through.
