Mercure Hotel Hannover Mitte - Hannover, Germany 

We got a "hot deal" from Expedia and stayed here one night on our way to Frankfurt airport.. The room rate was about $80 US and was the cheapest hotel rate on our Europen trip. The staff was helpful, the facility was very clean and the room exceeded our expectations. While the neighborhood is clearly center city it is not unsafe. We walked the nearby area without concern. There is an excellent Italian restaurant next door. Overall a good experience and a hotel that presents a solid value.

Letting aside the fact that I was there during a big exposition and the room was 250 euro - which is clearly too much for a 3 star - the hotel is nice and new. I spent there a week: my room on the 5 th floor was very quiet. Not very big, but big enough, at least for european standards. All the hotel looked quite clean to me. Just a couple to things to keep in mind: the wi.fi connection works only on some floors - there is no mini-bar nor tea-coffee facilities in the room, but only some shabby vending machines on some floors. (not working for a couple of days while I was there). The hotel is quite close to the city center but the area itself is not the kind of place where I would hang out at night especially if woman (i didn't have any problem anyway). Breakfast was good and plenty of choice. Staff helpful and kind
