yes it may need to be updated but you cant buy a smile in a strange city .This is an old city with old hotels .When you have been to a lot of countries you look for a good clean bed a good breakfast and a good smile . Yes up and down stairs small rooms old bath room
spit and polish cant hurt ,but would do it again
Upon first glance, the Elizabeth seemed to be a nice hotel for our family as it was recommended by Rick Steves and other tour books. Wow, we were misled! We booked our room for a family of four (dad, mom, and two children) w/ en-suite bathroom four months ahead of time and then reconfirmed our accommodations three weeks prior to our arrival. When we arrived for check-in, we were rudely greeted and informed that the family room that we had reserved and had been guaranteed was "closed." The desk clerk informed us that we would be placed in two side-by-side double rooms. As we climbed the steps to the top level, we realized our rooms were actually at opposite ends of the hallway with other guest rooms in between . To top it off, there was no en-suite bathroom facilities as we had been promised and were charged extra for. We promptly informed the desk clerk that this was not going to work. We were informed that no other rooms were available for the night, but an apartment would be available the next morning and we would be moved into it if we would just accept these accommodations for the evening. With little other choice, we complied only to find the next morning that our family apartment had been "sold during the night." Our family was VERY DISAPPOINTED by our accommodations, but more so by the bait and switch tactics practiced by this hotel. When we asked to speak with a manager on two separate occasions, the manager was no where to be found or had not come in for the day. The manager never contacted us. No one offered to accommodate our family in any way. On the morning of our departure the desk clerk actually apologized as we were leaving and stated that she felt we had been "treated dirty."
As far as the accommodations are concerned, the rooms were very small. The sheets on the bed had large rips and holes.
The television was antiquated with only a few channels that worked.
I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel due to the very poor customer service and untrustworthy tactics.
