2I needed to stay near Watereloo for train connections and most hotels were priced totally over the top for a mid week overnight stay. The Days Inn at Waterloo was ?110 for a double room for single occupancy including breakfast so it seemed cheap!! Days Hotel is a 10 minute walk from Waterloo Station and is opposite Lambeth North Tube station. Area is OK by day, I used taxis by night. A few small shops and bars in close proximity but there is an outside seating area at the hotel with uncomfortable picnic benches instead of chairs. The bar had reasonable prices and the breakfast was adequate enough with not very good machine coffee. On arrival they mixed up my room as I requested a higher floor with a quiet room but was give a ground floor room on the main road. This was quickly sorted and I received a long narrow twin bedded room on the 4th floor. It was basic with single beds, no air conditioning and a basic yet functional bathroom. It was just 3* which is what the hotel advertises itself as. I slept with the fan on all night and the windows open and in fairness, even though there were sirens etc is was not disruptive. The carpets and decor in the corridors are a bit grim and need replacing but it was clean. There is nothing much else to add really and this is not the sort of hotel I would normally book for business or leisure. However, it served the purpose, was cheapish for London, was convenient for Waterloo station and had reasonable facilities. Would I stay there again, probably not unless I was desperate but it seemed full of business and leisure travellers so it must be doing something right.
