First impressions shouldn't be everything, but they do tend to colour your view for the rest of a trip. To be in the hotel's reception just over a minute after leaving the tube station was a big bonus, as are the automatic doors as you walk up the steps to the hotel. As we entered, the receptionist jumped up from his seat in the loungs and was extremely helpful, especially as he had to find our booking as we'd only booked online 2 hours earlier and I couldn't recall which agency I'd booked through and I hadn't printed a confirmation due to time constraints. He was cheerful throughout and guessed the reason we were at the hotel (concert at Albert Hall) - I guess they had a few in for that and that made it busier than a normal sunday evening. The lift to the second floor is not for the claustrophobic, it says you can get 4 people in it, I wouldn't want to try it, it's not much different in size to an old style UK telephone box. The room was fine, it had both a 4ft 6 double and a single, a plasma tv but (as far as we could find) no way of making a hot drink (it had an empty fridge though) Breakfast of tea, toast, cornflakes etc was included in our ?110 rate - it was served in the room that becomes an indian restaurant later in the day. It appeared that you could upgrade to full english for ?5.50 a person. Location was fine, although if you had a room facing the front, I guess it could be a little noisy as it's on the junctions of Gloucester Road and Cromwell Road (one of the main routes into central London. We walked to the royal albert hall in about 15 minutes and to Sloane Square in about 25 (gently strolling both times) Harrods would be about the same as SS and the museums about the same as the RAH. Plenty of restaurants, cafes etc very close plus waitrose, boots, 2 banks, plenty of buses and of course the tube which is on circle, district and piccadilly - about 10 mins to theatreland, 4 stops to paddington if coming in from heathrow.

Stayed here for one night and thought it was very good value for money. Staff was fine (despite earlier comments on this site) and en-suite single room was also good. Nice flatscreeen tv set with internet and movie options, large bath and good bed. Breakfast was fine, location very good, and very good value for money given the fact that the area is one of the more expensive ones in London. Will definitely book here again.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Montana Hotel in London. In South Kensington area, very close to Royal Albert Halls, Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park, main museums and Harrods. Hotel very clean indeed, with modern furnishings - had a very nice quadruple room for our family. Staff very nice and helpful. "Light of India" Restaurant is part of the hotel - we had a meal there one night and it was very nice. Hotel is just across road from underground station, plenty of shops and restaurants in vicinity. Would most definitely recommend this hotel for your London holiday.
