This is one of a series of hotels on the same street that used to be Victorian homes. It is one of the nicer. The room was nice, but small. The bed was very comfortable. We unfortunately didn't have much of a view. The breakfast was included in the rate and was pretty tasty. The staff for the most part was great, especially the servers during breakfast. The location is great, just down from Paddington Station and from a tour bus stop. I highly recommend those if it's your first time in London. Hyde Park is just up the street.
Yes, if you want a spotless clean hotel with very helpful and efficient staff in a fabulous location, this is the place to stay. We just loved the Darlington. We stayed in London for 4 days prior to a tour and booked a suite which gave us plenty of room to relax. Well worth the extra cost. This was one of the few hotels I really couldn't fault in the 4 weeks we were in the UK and Ireland - the floors did squeak a bit, but there were so many extras that were just part of the deal. It's only 1 block from Paddington Station and you are able to walk there with suitcases quite easily, not to mention the great location for shopping, particularly in Oxford Street. Our 2nd stay on our return was just as good. A freshly cooked breakfast was also included, as well as the opportunity to use the laundry. A great place to stay.
