It was my third stay in London, but the first one in the very center of the city (the other ones were near Paddington). So the first big and nice surprise was the small price of a 4* hotel, near Regent & Oxford Street. It seems that I catch a discount period in August. Quite strange but I'm glad for it. Everything was perfect with 2 exceptions: (a) taking a sort of a cash deposit at the beginning of your staying (after paying all the nights) - on what purpose? I don't understand. Everything addditional you had to pay (breakfast, lunch, dinner, taxi to the airport a.s.o.) - so why this deposit?! I didn't pay it... (b) we stayed for 5 nights. On the first one we realised that no one of the two bed lamps wasn't working. So the second day we announced the problem at the reception. Nothing happened. On the third day we asked again - this time during the day. Someone came but the problem didn't solve. We announced again - the fourth day - that we don't have lights in the room during the night. When we returned at the hotel that evening, one of the bed lamps was working !!! We considered it a victory and remained silent for the last day of our holliday...

Excellent situation just off Oxford Street opposite the Langham which costs three times as much! stayed 2 weeks (on business) First week instandard room that had been redecorated ,recarpeted and retiled bathroom on 14th floor with excellent views and quiet apart from being near to noisy lift. Second week had executive double which had robes toiletries and leather furniture but was on 10th floor with not as good a view and noisier, also cost ?30 per night more. Not really worth the expense. staff were much better than in the past when it was French run. victoria in the bar even remembered what we drank each evening (we only had one drink per night) which must be unique for a London hotel. Excellent value for money and position. Pizza Express next door for good cheap meals and the Heights bar for great view and reasonable prices. Will definitely stay there again
