Our family recently stayed at the York House for only one night. Our room was spacious and clean, although a little dated. We had a fabulous sea view and were not disturbed by noise of any kind. Breakfast was pleasant enough but the service was slow. All in all a perfectly acceptable hotel if a little dated - especially the corridors which had swirly patterned carpets and woodchip paper on the walls. We did note though that some areas (eg the bar) seem to be undergoing refurbishment.

The first room was fine but the bathroom was so smelly-obviously plumbing problems. Reception found us another "room". Window would not open and had black tape where it was cracked. The walls and ceiling showed signs of damp and the room was so small my husband and I would have had to take turns moving around-it was really a single room with a 4' bed.Back to reception and much head scratching. Eventually given a much better room at the front. Breakfast was OK.
