Selcuklu Evi is a fine example of Seljuk architecture. This antique house has been lovingly restored by hand. The local craftsmen of Ürgüp spent two years to complete this restoration. Each block was quarried from the local area and then manually sculptured and leveled before becoming part of Selcuklu Evi. As much of the original house has been preserved although many years of decay and erosion had left limited resources. Each motif and impression on the stones has a story and that is why this restoration is so unique.Situated in a small lane surrounded by local homes and gardens this area has panoramic views of rock hewn caves and the old village of Ürgüp.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in June 08 while I was spending 6 days horse riding in Cappadokia (highly recommended, the best way to see this weird and wonderful place.) This is a lovely hotel, the rooms are well appointed, the central courtyard and the rooftop tables provide great public spaces. The breakfasts and dinners were really excellent. There are a couple of tortoise and a very sweet cat that come by at breakfast. It is an easy walk down the hill to the little town. The prices in Urgup are better than Goreme if you want to buy ceramics. Wine is VERY expensive if you are spending US dollars.
