We booked the hotel last minuet as we were visiting friends in the area and didn't want to drive home. Unfortunately the hotel was not at all nice. As many people have commented it's very 1970s. Staffs are friendly enough which seems to be the hotels only redeeming feature.
We decided to have breakfast in the room, and to be honest wished we hadn't bothered. It cost over ?30, for 2 and it was really really cheap food. We stop quiet often in the Malmasion in Leeds and you get a fab breakfast for a lot less than ?30. I was very ill and disappointed with the food.
It really is just a travel lodge but a bit pricier. I will never stop again. But if you do try and go when there isn't any Chavy wedding taking place as the noise down the corridors at 4am is unbelievable I don't think it was purely down to the crazed wedding guest, but the fact that the walls are paper thin it did amplify their renditions of the karaoke classic I will survive.
The only other problem we had was with the water temperatures. You turned the cold water tap on and after a couple of minuets of cold water you suddenly had scolding hot water. All very strange.
My Advice would be if you can find another hotel near by use it. If not be prepared to find a 1970s hotel that has yet to make it into the 90s or beyond.

Having stayed here for 2 nights a week for the last few weeks due to family commitments locally, we have this hotels dramatically changing review pattern sussed!
There are 2 main sides to the hotel - one is older in décor and faces the M62 - we had our first uncomfortable experience of this on our last visit - the rooms are very dated, smell somewhat musty/greasy, the beds are rock hard and you face the M62 which is noisy - compared to the other side of the corridor - which faces a residential street is far more modern, clean and fresh with comfortable beds....this COULD be why some give a 5 and some a 1 on here???
Also I think that 'expectations' spring to mind - we are globally traveled both leisure and business so have experienced a wide range of leisure facilities /Hotels- I have to say that this one has its 4 stars from its leisure facilities and breakfast - oh yes, and its iron and ironing boards in the rooms. It is a soul less/80's style place with light wood and main stream catalogue furniture (like a Hilton but only 10 years back) strangely enough it used to be a Hilton Hotel!
The Breakfast offering is superb but stops at 9.30am SHARP (not great when you on leisure trip?)
The company is obviously a very tightly run company which holds its belt in tight , commendable- but this means, the most annoying factors for us, (the customer!!!) are the number of restrictions/policies customers get rammed down their necks....examples: When you check in they take £150.00 off your credit card - one may think this is to pay for the accommodation etc....OH NO.....this is....in case...in case of...UMMM...you spend it in the bar maybe? Or break something? because when you check out - they ignore the £150 and take any monies owed AGAIN on top of this amount - principally, I understand the business should protect itself and take the money when you arrive - but to take more upon check out and politely inform you that the £150.00 will take 4-5 days to go back into your account is a disgrace. Older/less well off people could not do that...that’s wrong.
Bar drinks - after 11pm room bills only - no cash - this again, I understand principally, but delivered so harshly - and to us, actually at 10.50pm - and woe betide you if you dont have your key card...and if you are not a resident you don’t have a dogs chance , thats of getting a drink or feeling human in the rejection...- it’s very strictly governed and doesn’t 'feel' nice from a customer service point of view. The way the policies are delivered and the manner in which they are delivered is too harsh for customers to feel 'ok' about it.
So all in all - if you manage to get a bargain and need to be in this vicinity - just strive for a room on the newer side and the rest is not so bad - just don’t have any elevated expectations..Also check in with one c.card you don’t use often with the least interest charge on it and check out using your every day credit card.
It is what it is....you have been told....
