The Huddersfield Hotel is a very old hotel in need of refurbishment. It shows its age. But, the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. The towels and bed linens look rather new, and are quite nice (I very much appreciated the enormous bath towel). Wifi was available, and worked quite well. When I asked for an iron and ironing board, a brand new one was quickly produced. Continental and English breakfasts were included in the room price (served by a lovely woman who will treaty you kindly and call you 'love'). If you can deal with the negatives, I think the Huddersfield Hotel is a lovely place to stay.

I had to stay in Huddersfield for a night on business recently. As a few from the team had to attend the meeting we all booked the same hotel. The price per room was ?65.00 inc breakfast. The rooms were very poor. There was very little clean and the bedding and towels were stained and in need of replacement. One of our team was in a room that had not been cleaned and he was welcomed to the hotel with a pair of women’s underpants in his bin. Nice... We decided to eat out that night for the above reasons. The hotel in located on a busy corner and flanked by strip bars (perhaps that explains the underpants???). Not exactly a 'good spot' for families. There was lot’s of noise into the night (on a Wednesday) from the afore mentioned bars late into the night. The breakfast was slow service (considering most guests appeared to be on businesses this was poor) and the food was easily forgotten. I am more than happy to share this experience as I would avoid booking this hotel again. I have stayed in many hotels and you generally get what you pay for, however I expect a clean, presentable room at the very least. Staff were nonchalant at best in more quarters. Huddersfield seemed to have many other good hotels (including the travel inns) to choose from, what a pity our team booked this one.
