The Grand, owned by Best Western, is in a good location in the centre of Hartlepool, and is a short walk from the restaurants and bars at Navigation Point. For being in the centre of town, we had no complaints about noise.
The hotel has been renovated and retains some of it's Victorian character. Some of the renovations are a bit too 'fascia' and let down the great original features such as the stained glass window on the staircase.
The double room was quite large, and the en-suite small. A nice shower (with a large rose) took a while to get going up to any level of power. We were on the 3rd floor and the room was very warm, there was no air conditioning, but leaving the window open put the temperature just right. The room was presented very well, and had an iron and ironing board, hairdryer etc.
The staff were good, although not always at the reception. The breakfasts were great. On the whole a very comfortable stay.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel last fall and on our return visit were looking forward to the high level of service we received previously. Although under construction we found staff VERY helpfull and the room again clean neat and tidy, Breakfast (included) was good and we WILL be back.
