Grants Hotel - Harrogate, United Kingdom     

This hotel is in a great location, 5 minute walk from the town centre, and a 1 min walk to the famous Spa. We stayed in a Superiour room, which had a massive, very comfortable bed! The room was decorated a bit old fashioned, but it was very clean. The shower was great also. The breakfast was very tasty indeed, with plenty to choose from. Excellent helpful staff, the receptionist even made me a hand-made map of local attractions! We will be definately staying here again!

We arrived in Harrogate yesterday afternoon and went to the tourist office to enquire about accommodation - we decided we would prefer a hotel rather than the proffered guesthouses so were told there was a cancellation in Grants - 'a lovely boutique hotel' that we would love..... We arrived at the hotel and after checking in were directed to take lift to first floor - we wandered up and down only to discover that our room was on a landing btween the floors - just above reception! The room was small but had tv and tv/coffee etc. Problems started later - the noise levels were ridiculous - it was like sleeping in grand central station - there was a large gap under our door so we heard every passing footfall and conversation - along with the long detailed phone conversation which the gentleman in the room above us had. Oh and the toilet didn't flush properly either! The location was very central, we didn't eat in the restaurant except for breakfast which was ok - staff seemed very friendly. This is more than can be said for the receptionist who simply took the monay and ran! Hence this review because if asked I would have pointed out the above to the hotel.
