Hotel Plaza Futuroscope - Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, France     

Stayed here to attend a friend's wedding nearby and used the opportunity to visit Futuroscope with the family. We booked 2 adjoining rooms, 1 double and 1 twin. The rooms were very comfortable and pleasingly spacious. Our standard rooms were reasonably well equiped (minibar, hairdryers, etc) although there was no kettle and a request to reception for either a kettle or a room service coffee was ignored. The food in this hotel was very poor. Expensive for what it was, and it wasn't particularly pleasant - not a good advert french cuisine! There was a very limited choice and what was supplied was of very poor quality. We ate dinner there one day and had breakfast. At the buffet breakfast they were running out of plates and food, taking an age to restock (if at all - one day we asked for plates and were just given saucers). There is a pool in the hotel which seemed very popular with the younger guests and there is 'games room' with video games, air-hockey, pool etc too. However, the hotel bar seems to only open for the early evening so not so much to entertain the older guests! This hotel gives itself a 4-star rating, but I didn't see anything that would justify this. However, it is very close to Futuroscope (walking distance) and there is a free bus service. One worrying aspect of the room (as we were staying with a 5 year old) was that there was no physical lock on the external child's bedroom door, so a inquisitive child could just open the door with the handle and walk- out into the corridor. Better hotels I've stayed in have a security catch high-up on the door to stop this.
