My boyfriend and I stayed in the hotel, along with family, in October 2007 and so this review is very overdue!
On the plus side, the hotel looked nice from the outside and reception was lovely. We paid around ?80 a room and so the place wasn't too expensive (although in hindsight a travel inn would have been nicer!!). Breakfast was included and was really good.
On the down side, the rooms were dated, old-fasioned and very very shabby. Our room was tiny, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls and our double bed was in fact two single beds pushed together. The other rooms were similarly shabby. We were expecting a lot more for a best western.
We didn't find the staff to be very helpful. Our key didn't work the entire time we were there. We asked for a new key and we were told it would be fixed while we were out (at a wedding). This didn't happen and we waited 20 minutes to get into our room at 1 in the morning while the person on reception hunted for a master key.
On the whole, we were very disappointed with our stay. Although in saying that, my sister had stayed here before and had a much better room/experience. My advice would be don't stay here unless you get a good deal. if you do stay here and your room is particularly shabby, ask to be moved to a nicer room!

It's a Best Western so booked through their site for a good 2 night deal.
Check-in was good, shown to our suite (which we hadn't booked) which was huge, with an ensuite and additional bedroom. Large flat screen TV and views over the hotel grounds and Salway Firth.
We ate in the bar area and food was more than adequate.
The gym area is very well equipped, however the changing rooms, pool area and sauna are an absolute disgrace. There wasn't an inch of dry space to put anything down on, mould was gowing all over the place and the sauna was probably colder than our room was.
We ate in the bar and again had a very nice meal.
All of the staff were friendly and courteous althought the manager was very harassed due to them being very busy the 2nd night.
Overall, a fairly nice place to stay but keep away from the pool.
