Horse and Groom Hotel - Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom 

I thought I was staying near Great Yarmouth, but this place is about 8 miles outside. Unforgiveably, this is yet another hotel which has a large bedroom equipped with the tiniest television it could buy, and even worse, they couldn't even stretch to getting a tv with teletext. In the middle of nowhere, I decided to drive out for my meal, and ended up 25 miles away in Cromer. Up early for the 7-30 start to breakfast (kindly written on my room card by the grumpy receptionist, I was unnerved to find that the breakfast room wasn't ready at 7-30, and I'd have to "wait a few minutes". I left with memories of the mould round the shower tray seal, and a resolve to avoid in the future.

Stayed one night on business. Very friendly welcome and staff are polite and efficient. Good location if touring the broads. Room was without any ' warmth' and not very well furnished, below travel lodge standard. The main light was a shade with an energy saving bulb.The room was clean with a good supply of towels and toilletries. The bar was pleasant but without much atmosphere as was the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was however excellent and this is probably the one redeeming feature to entice me to stay again. On the whole okay for one night and good value.
