The Waterside Hotel Grasmere - Grasmere, United Kingdom 

Please do not book this hotel ,the pictures on there website must be 20 yrs old it looks nothing like it. We stayed in a upgraded lakeview room for ?230.00 for 2 nights I can honestly say it is the worse place for the money I have stayed at. Just wished I had checked the bad reviews before we went they are all so true

We booked our stay at this hotel on the strengh of the very glamorous web site. Bad mistake. We actualy drove past it thinking it could not be place we were looking for. Unfortunatley it was. If the first immpression was bad it was about to get worse. Whilst waiting at reception the couple in front of us were telling the manageress that the hotel was a disgrace and not up to their standard and they would not even check in. However they still had to pay about ?90 because they had cancelled on that day. I bet this hotel makes a fortune out poor souls like them who believe the web site and then get royaly stuffed. The Double room we had booked was a joke. The bed could only fit a couple of anorexic pygmies in it and was jammed up against the wall. The whole fabric of this delapidated hotel is coming apart at the seams. The green stair carpet is held together with black fabric tape and the wallpaper was peeling away in our room. I could goon but Ithink you get the drift. This hotel should be ashamed to mislead people in the way it does. At best it is sharp practice at worst it is tantermount to obtaining money by false pretence. Avoid if you possibly can.
