The best thing about the Argyll is the delightfully helpful front desk staff. My husband and I and a friend spent two nights there, and were really struck by how outgoing the staff was. Another huge plus about the Argyll are the beautifully tended urns of flowers which greet passersby. They immediately show the care that is put into this old place. The rooms are clean. The downside is that the room was tiny, and the mattress was uncomfortable..so that I was very ready to leave, as my lower back was beginning to feel it.

An older style small hotel, situated close to Kelvingrove art gallery & museum. Rooms are on suite but small. Don't expect much in terms of free shampoo or sewing kits. TV in rooms and some patchy wifi coverage. An iron is available in some of the corridors. Breakfast is buffet style, with cereals, bread and hot food. This is certainly not a luxury hotel but adequate for a short stay. Expensive for what is on offer compared to most cities, but this seems to be the case with most of Glasgow’s small hotels that I have contacted, so I guess this must reflect local market conditions.
