Well-located, friendly hotel Posted: Wed, Jun 27 2007

The Devoncove Hotel provided all the services I would expect from a 3-star hotel. The location was excellent, within walking distance of a central shopping area, restaurants and museums. The decoration was reasonable and my room was clean and comfortable. The bar was well-stocked and the staff very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The breakfast also was of a good standard.
During the ten years I worked in the travel industry and inspected hundreds of hotels both in Britain and overseas for our clients and I have no hesitation in recommending the Devoncourt Hotel to visitors to Glasgow.
Not a 'Glasgow Kiss' in sight... Posted: Fri, Jun 22 2007

I had an extremely enjoyable time at the Devoncove. The room was basic but presentable and the position was good - a longish stroll from the city centre but very handy for the excellent Mother India restaurant and the Kelvingrove Museum, which is well worth a visit.
The staff were a particular highlight; I was part of a group from various corners of the country and we were made to feel very welcome, in fact the staff could not have done more to make our stay as hassle-free as possible.
The breakfast was good and even though I staggered down after a heavy night with only five minutes before the end of the sitting, there was plenty of hot food and the waiting staff were courteous.
It's not the last word in luxury, but as a well-situated hotel where you can have a relaxed time, it's highly recommended.
night mare, we booked a double room for the night as we were down on business, our room was tiny wit a three quarter size bed and to top it off it had a single quilt on it resulting in myself and my husband fighting over the quilt we never stayed for breakfast as the walls are paper thin we heard every movement from other guessed and awoken with music blaring at 7 am. came home very tierd indeed. never again will i stay at this hotel. think they gave us the broom cupboard just threw in a half a bed.
I had a quick look at some of the less charitable reviews on this site and can only conclude it must've been a different hotel. Sure, some of the staff didn't grow up with English as a first language, but that doesn't seem all that unusual in Glasgow, and the choice of TV/music in the bar was iffy to say the least, but when they're prepared to keep it open until 6am, that seems a minor complaint. I have to say also that I wasn't kept awake by noisy guests (apart from the ones I was drinking with), the staff were helpful and sympathetic (the look on the face of the lady serving breakfast on the Sunday said it all....) and the place is ultra convenient for one of the best indian restaurants (I can't say 'curry house' - it was something more than just that) I've been to.
I'm no prodigious traveller, but I've spent a lot more money on much worse and found the Devoncoe to be friendly, clean, unpretentious and overall well worth the very reasonable rates. Cheers!
Just spent two days at the Devoncove as part of a large group that meets at various British hotels throughout the year.
This hotel is clean, nice bedrooms, good breakfast and great value for money.
The staff made us feel very welcome and were exceptionally helpful.
I'd be happy to recommend the Devoncove Hotel to anyone - the hotel provided a relaxed, friendly base for great weekend.
