Mediocre
Not what I expected of a Best Western Hotel

I have just returned form a 3 night stay at the Best Western Glasgow City Hotel. On arrival I was told that there were no cooked breakfasts available only a limited complimentary buffet which consisted of croissants & pastries together with tea or coffee from a flask to be drunk from paper cups. Full payment was required in advance before the room key was handed over. I had booked a double room for my sole use. What I got , as several previous reviewers have remarked, was a single room containing a double bed. The room was spotless and well equipped but two people would have found it difficult to move around in the limited space. The room should have contained a DVD player but on asking at reception I was told " We do not put them in those rooms because they are too small but you can borrow one" Overall this was not the experience I would expect from a Best Western branded hotel.

Ok for the price, but nothing to rave about

We stayed here for 2 nights and took advantage of booking online and paying up-front as it was a cheaper rate - came to just under ?60 per night. The room was absolutely tiny - opening the wardrobe doors meant that entrance to the (tiny, but clean and modern) bathroom was impossible! But the room was ok, and we weren't spending much time in there. It was nicely decorated, huge flat screen TV, free drinks for the first night (nice touch), powerful shower. We did have a noise problem on the second night - sounded like something in the water pipes - a noisy, vibrating kind of rattle woke me up at least 3 times, and I was wearing ear plugs! Apart from that, our stay was quite good. Nothing amazing, but for the price it was fine. Really close to Sauciehall Street, if you like that kind of thing, and a short walk to the Glasgow School of Art. Staff helpful, pastries/fruit provided for brekkie in the very small residents' lounge. Difficult to rave about it, but difficult to find much fault with it. If you don't expect a huge room, you'll be fine!

Just returned from a weekend in the City Aparthotel and will never return. Very disappointed with the service, the room and especially the breakfast. Upon arrival we were immediately told we had to pay for our room in advance which had we seen before hand would not have stayed in. It was tiny. A double bed squeezed into a single room. Impossible for two people to walk around at the same time. No additional pillows or blankets and our room overlooked an alley allowing people from the overlooking offices to see in. Next came the bathroom - wonky taps, freezing water and couldn't swing a cat in it. The hotel advertised a continental breakfast! We were directed to a basement room with a table of food. Pathetic! A few gone of crossiants, pasteries and rotten bananas. We had to make coffee in paper cups. No cereal or orange juice. Overall we had a horrible experience in this hotel. The reception staff were rude and not very helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and believe you can get alot nicer hotels for the same price.
