A gorgeous terrace townhouse with a homey feel. Extremely approachable and helpful staff; friendly pooch at home on the stairs. Plush colours and carpets. My vast room had 15-foot ceilings, walls painted deep crimson, tall bow windows, elaborate cornices, three beds (a family room, but serving as a single for me) , and a good, clean bathroom built into one corner. Free wireless internet in the room and everywhere in the hotel. Hearty breakfast cooked to order. Within walking distance of the university (whose conference office did the booking), the Kelvingrove, Byres Road, and the Hunterian Gallery; 5-pound taxi ride to Queen St station. All for an extremely reasonable price. What's not to like? Maybe the furniture, which jarred with the architectural elegance, but was perfectly serviceable.
I booked a room in this hotel for 50 pounds a night, two weeks in advance.
On arrival i was informed that my booking had been cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances". I was shocked and stranded. This was inspite of having informed the owner, at the time of booking, that i am visiting for an exam on the next day. Terrible shock on the eve before.
My son, cousin, and I stayed here for 3 nights. We were very happy. My cousin had a single room at the very top, which he was happy with. My son and I were in the basement in a room with 2 double beds. Our room was huge, well decorated, and clean. The beds were great, as was the ensuite bathroom.
The staff were friendly, the breakfast really good. Anytime we asked to use the internet in the dining room, we were allowed to, which was quite convenient.
We really enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
