It depends why you are using this hotel, as to wether it is suitable. A group of 24 of us went to celebrate a 21st birthday and for that it was spot on. The bar was 24 hours and more than willing to serve. The same guy, Simon was on from the moment we arrived, 1pm saturday and was still on when we left the following morning and was more than happy to oblige, even ordering us take-away food at 11.30 when we got back to the hotel, cooking scampi and chips for 1 of us at 1am, then continuing to serve behind the bar till 6am!!!!! Bar prices were town prices too, v.reasonable for a hotel.
Breakfast was good, self service, the usual full english, cereal, tea, coffee and juice (oh and simon was still there pulling pints if you wanted!!!)
Yes it is in the middle of nowhere but the taxi service was very good, ?1 each to metrocentre and ?1.50 each into Newcastle if there is a group of you. We all managed to get the same taxi driver, Jimmy at various points throughout the night, from 11.30 till 4am, who came as soon as we called (he gave us a mobile number on our 1st trip out)
The hotel does take a ?30 bond at check-in which you get back if you manage not to completly trash your room!
If you are having a family break/lovey-dovey weekend then it is not for you, it is catered towards you groups and the hotel and rooms reflect this, a little run-down, though it IS clean, its just a tad shabby in places and with groups of stags/hens/birthday bash's having breakfast and beer, i wouldn't really want to take my kids there!
Overall, a top night, in a good hotel, in a top city, would go back, after all where else can you book a hotel for 24 young people with top quality service (except one narky, miserable bar-man - who simon soon put in his place!) - for less than forty quid each?

I stayed in the Ravensdene Lodge Hotel for 2 nights. i found the rooms to be clean and the staff to be helpful. i have read the other reviews and can't understand if they stayed in the same hotel as me. You pay for what you get and i feel that it was value for money. I think some of the other people who stayed here were probably looking for 5* star facilities but paying for only 2*.
I would reccomend this hotel, especially if you are on a budget as they give good rates.
