5The Knight Residence was absolutely superb in every respect. I was so worried about finding an affordable (but comfortable) hotel in Edinburgh. My parents were over from America, so they have a somewhat higher standard of comfort. Instead of booking two separate double rooms, we had one flat to share as a family at a very reasonable price (no need to collect a key across town from an office they have staff on-site).
First, the staff is unbelievably nice. The concierge was friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff was obliging (still cleaning our flat daily even though we are very late risers!). Second, the flat itself is brand new and equipped with washer/dryer, DVD, WiFi, high standard bathrooms, full kitchen. They also give you a little stash of tea/coffee/cereal/milk to start you out on when you arrive. The beds were comfortable, and all of the linen (even plush bathrobes) was replaced daily if requested. Lastly, the location was closer than ever to the touristy bits without being in the thick of it (my older non-walking parents were impressed). In the past, I have stayed in another hotel in Edinburgh that was just as nice, but not as relaxing and twice the price. Keep in mind, there is construction on the street so try to reserve a room that will not be affected by the noise. One complaint: the room was advertised as two queen rooms, which technically was correct, but the beds were actually arranged as 1 queen and 2 twin beds.
