2We booked the hotel based on the website. At first we were in a tiny room full with furniture (some a bit bedraggled), with an enormous TV which we kept hitting our heads on. It is totally inappropriate for the room. Single wardrobe and nowhere to put other clothes, no room for the suitcase to be left or to put the supplied iron and ironing board up. Kettle lead was too short for the plugs which are all floor level (I presume due to the age of the building). No bath rail or towel rail in the bathroom and floor was soaked every time we used the shower. We asked to move which we could do the next day.
Got a larger room (twin beds pushed together) but very cramped bathroom and again no bath rail which was desperately needed as we had to clamber over the toilet to get into it. No shelf above sink/baths or toilet roll holders in either bathrooms and the sinks only hold a small amount of water. Couldn't get the kettles under the taps. Lighting in both was bad and floors were slippy.
There is no lift and it is a trek to the upper rooms.
There was not enough info about Edinburgh in the rooms.
The rooms are a triumph of style over substance. a lot of thought has been given to how they look and not much to the practicalities.
On a positive note the staff were very nice and helpful, the breakfast was great and cooked freshly and they did accomodate our request for a move to another room.
