I booked this hotel through Superbreak in February 2007 (some 10 months previously). When we arrived we were given a room (No.9) and was horrified. There was a terrible smell and when we opened a cupboard door, there were soaking towels wrapped around some pipes, and water all over the carpet. The blind was hanging off the window. It was awful! We called the young girl back who went to get someone more senior. The lady who came to see us apologised and said as the hotel was full, they could offer us another room for two nights and then for our third night, a room in their sister hotel opposite, but could only offer a single room, and they could put in a 'mattress'. We found this to be totally unacceptable, particularly when we had booked ten months in advance. We immediately rang Superbreak and explained the situation. The lady we spoke to asked to speak to the senior lady in the hotel. About twenty minutes later we were offered a twin room for our full three nights. I'm not sure what Superbreak said to them, but whatever it was, it worked! The twin room (No. 7) was fine and totally acceptable for our New Year break. Although everything was sorted out, it was because of the Superbreak staff and not the hotel staff. All in all we enjoyed our New Year break, but would not stay at this hotel again.

My wife and I stayed here in July 07 for three nights while visiting Edinborough. First the good- It was clean, safe, and the staff was fairly pleasant, depending on which girl was on duty when you needed help. There was an adequate breakfast in the morning. The hotel was right on a bus stop and also right on the airport express bus stop too. The guy who tends bar at the sister hotel across the street was cool. The bad- We were placed into a basement room, not good. The hotel is not as close to the city centre as we thought it was...it was a good 30 minute walk to Princes St. There were not a lot of restaurants near the hotel. It was kind of hard to find even though it was right on a main road. We had to ask for a topsheet for the bed. We were told the hotel had a computer with internet access and it didn't. Overall it was fine, not the best hotel I've stayed at in Europe, but not the worst. Next time I visit Edinbrough, I will try to find something closer to the city center, but if you don't mind being on the fringe of the city centre, it's an adequate hotel.

I went here for a couple of days over the weekend, lovely clean rooms and we had a huge bath. The staff could not do enough. Breakfast was great and not bad rates either. I will be going again. Its a 20 min walk into Edinburgh or £5 in a taxi.
